Yes, we made it; sorry so long without a post...We're haing trouble finding internet cafes and won't have our internet for a while yet. So we are at a fellow teacher's house borrowing their internet. Yay, communiation with the outside world!!! But don't worry about us; we are safe and sound and settling in (sort of) in taipei.
To be quick here are my initial observations;
1) taipei is much older and more traditional/old school Chinese. We live in a teeny tiny lane in an old building with no elevator. It is not really like where we lived in Kaohsiung.
2) taipei is very expensive. Everything we've eaten is twice as expensive as Kaohsiung and almost more than home. Our apartment is on;y 2 besdroom (and one bedroom is SMALL) and it is twice what we paid for ours in kaohsiung. (24,000 NT$; about 1000$ Cdn) wre don't pay that, thank God, the school does, but it is quite a nit smaller than we were expecting.
So it is pretty different than last time. But I think we will get used to it. It is very urban, so there are ltos of neat things around us to see. We live in a very character area. It used to be one of the wealthiest areas in town, apparently.
We're waking up early and exhausted at night (just like when my dad came to visit last time, remember that dad?) Tomorrow we start school training stuff, and I;m excited to ge tinto a routine and figure out what this year will be like. Hopefully they have internet at shcool!
I love and miss you friends and family!!! talk to you soon
