Have I mentioned yet that the best part of teaching is the vacations? Ok, yes, I like the kids and the whole 'molding young minds' thing, of course ;) But breaks are good. Although day time TV sucks! But that's ok, I should be working anyway, get my school stuff all caught up so I can do some cool stuff this week. ie) scrapbook, fabric market, Danshuei (I'll fill you in on this place if we go)
I planned my first Easter dinner, with friends of course, not really by myself but me and the girls in my small group. Our church had a retreat at this neat town right on the coast, it was beautiful. We had ham, scalloped potatoes, salad, mixed veggies, buns, and for dessert angel food cake and blueberries with whip cream. Yummy! People really like it because we don't do a lot of western food. And lots of people don't go out to Costco. We also planned the snacks for two nights; nachoes with sourcream, salsa, and vegetables, and the second night cookies and milk. Chocolate milk. Although people didn't get into that as much as I thought they would. What was sort of funny about the whole thing was the owners of the retreat centre were super healthy. The first morning (they did our breakfasts) we started with this energy drink, homemade, with organice vegetables, tomatoes, apples, and all sorts of herbs and beans and grass and who knows what else. It was alright. And then we got an 'informative' speech on how milk is really bad for you, how it is so acidic that it disrupts the Ph balance in your body which is bad for digestion and actually depletes calcium from your bones...Oh, and that causes cancer. So they probably didn't think that much of the four pounds of cheese we grated the night before for nachoes, the 3 pounds of sour cream...Oh, and then watching me make scalloped potatoes with almost a litre of milk... And for drink we had kool-aid. Because who doesn't love kool-aid? Each jug with a cup of sugar. Well, there eyes were going out of their heads when they saw that, and the electric colours it produced. We had blue, green, and purple. But they were good sports, they tried some even. :) I felt a little bad though for corrupting the purity of their kitchen.
So happy Easter everyone!
