March is ridiculous. There are about a million things happening, and this whole last half of the year flies by.
Today the choir (which I teach) lead praise and worship. We used the Hillsong Superhero DVD, learned all the words and actions and choreographed dances and everything. We've been working on it it for four weeks. So it was my plan to get to school early to decorate, the kid were going to come early too so we could practice one more time with mics, because we hadn't had a full tech rehearsal yet. Well, got up. Got ready. Couldn't find my school keys. Couldn't find Gemma's soother. Got to school late, couldn't find the ladder. Put up decorations lower, no problem. No remote for the projector. No key for the screen control box. The teacher in charge of that stuff is out of town in meetings all day. So my stress level was climbing like a ...well soemthing that climbs really well. Finally find those things, then couldn't get lap top to project. The computer teacher wasn't in his office so when we finally found him almost everyone was in chapel already. We didn't get it all working until it was performance time. We had about 2 minutes of practice in there, that's it!
Well, Praise the Lord it finally came together. We prayed as a group, Chris was praying at home, I was praying non stop. Ultimately, the lesson I think is that you don't need tech and all that fancy stuff to praise God. I mean, we did get to have our tech but we may of had to improvise and that would have been ok. And I think God wanted me to totally rely on him, and to trust. In the end it all came together an it went so well, my choir is just awesome, and it was really fun. I'm so glad I didn't let the bad stuff get the better of me.
Today's chapel message was also really good, so I will share with you. You know how little kids always say, "When I'm older I will _______" or "I can't wait for _____". even adults do that: "I can't wait for summer vacation" , etc. Jesus was there. He was at the highest level. He never had to say, "I can't wait until I'm God because then I can... " No, he was God. Jesus did the opposite. He went down as low as he could go. His life began in an stable, and ended on the cross.
Philippians 2:6-11, New Living Translation
6 Though he was God,
he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.
7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges[b];
he took the humble position of a slave[c]
and was born as a human being.
When he appeared in human form,[d]
8 he humbled himself in obedience to God
and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor
and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
