Kids say...

This week has been Spirit Week at our school, and we've had dress up days and things to earn points for your house. Remeber 'houses'? Well, our houses are a little strange here. I am am member of the Gray Rocks. Inspiring, eh? The other houses are Orange Cheese Puffs, Giant Green Turtles, Red Chili Peppers, and Black Jacks. Pretty silly. Apparently the houses used to have noble names, such as the Gray Wolves, Red Dragons, and Green Pythons, but some parents had issues with the whole dragon thing (what dragon thing? Who knows, the whole mythical beast thing. Soooo everyone had to change their house names. And this was the result. They have grown on me lately, but yes, the results of letting kids make decisions.... There are reasons schools aren't democracies!

Anyway, today was House Color day, where you are supposed to wear your house color. So this kindergarten kid shows up this morning wearing Brown. Well, brown is not one of our house colors and the teacher questioned him about it; Well, it was house color day and brown is the color of his house. The house he lives in. Hee hee... The joy of being an ESL kindergarten student, poor guy. And his poor parents; could you imagine if your kid came home and said he needed to dress in the same color as his house? Ahh, yes.

Tomorrow is Track and Field day, so pray for good weather. We are going to another school, a Chinese school with grass and trees (wow, eh? A school with grass and trees...) and we will do track events and stuff. It should be fun; there is nothing like seeing these kids run around on and having fun. Tomorrow is also Saturday; its the only day we can even borrow Chinese schools so we always have it on a Saturday. In exchange there is no school Monday. So that will be nice. We only have one Monday to teach in April!

Love you, miss you!
