Masters Degrees...

So our school offers distance learning classes from a college in the States. An instructor flies over here for two weeks and teaches four nights a week, plus Saturdays, and then you get a class toward your masters in education. The school pays for about half of it, I think. My question to the world out there is, "How much does a person really need a masters degree?" Right now I'm sort of going througb the 'all my friends are doing it' left out pout, but realistically I know that a) I havn't been a great student since the eleventh grade, b) I don't really need any more work in my life, c) educational jargon usually goes over my head d) I don't really care that educational jargon goes over my head, and e) I already have 2 degrees. But suppose we return to SK someday. Would it help? Or should I just go to conferences and take certificates and courses in stuff I'm interested in and that would improve my performance in the classroom (which is what I care about).

I think having your masters puts you up a level in the pay scale (not sure if that would be worth it to you or not). Other than that, the only other benefit I can think of it that you can then teach at university...

If you get a Master's degree you're at least part of the way towards becoming one "The Masters of Universe". You know like She-Ra or He-man.

That's a laudable goal if you ask me, so you might not want to be so quick to pass something like this up.

I wouldn't get the masters right now, b/c of your 2 degrees, adding a masters on that puts you on a REALLY high pay level here - thus making employment a bit harder to obtain.

I would take some courses, but not complete it until you have a job.

I think that you should do what will make you happiest.
If you think that you will get more out of life with your masters degree, or it will take you to where you want to be educationally, professionally, and employment wise, then do it. Plus it is a HUGE bonus if the school pays for half.
However, if it is not what you want out of life, then let it pass you by.
Think about it for a bit before you dismiss the idea completely, and make sure that it is not something that you are going to regret in the future.
