Words can't describe

I don't think words can do it justice...the Philippines, that is. The tropical islands you see in movies and on TV, well that is what it was like. The ocean out our front door, powdery sand, bathtub warm water, palm trees waving in the ocean air... We had a great time. We weren't sure if we'd like staying on a resort; usually we stay at a hotel in a town so we have options to travel by taxi around to other sights but especially with Gemma being at the resort was so convenient. Our room was right there, so we didn't need to pack bags for the day, etc, and she always could get changed or nap or whatever. The restaurant had great food at a reasonable prices. There was a lawn (grass is luxury we don't have in Taipei), a swimming pool with a shallow catch pool at each end that Gemma could walk around in. Go look at the pictures!

I've always been a nature buff and there was tonnes of nature and wildlife all around. Live starfish by the dozens, every seashell was crawling around leaving little trails. I even saw big starfish with horns, living sand dollars, bright blue starfish, spiny sea urchins, crabs, huge frogs, a lizard jumped on my leg while I was swinging in the hammock one afternoon, and the reception room had dozens of geckos on the ceiling. It was so cool. Every morning Gemma and I would get up and go search the tide pools and play in the mucky sand.

The McKenzie's are fighting through a stomach flu (maybe we caught it online through the Herperger blogs ;) I was on the couch all day yesterday, Chester today, and Gemma's diapers have been runny for 2 days. Yuck. Hopefully we are on the mend soon.
