Typhoon Morakot

Hopefully you've heard about the typhoon that has devastated southern parts of Taiwan. The typhoon hit on August 8 (Father's Day) here and things are a real mess. Kaohsiung County is still without water, firetrucks come and fill up tanks, including for our friend Melissa and the Kaohsiung branch of our school. In brief the typhoon dropped over 6 feet of rain in two days. This caused dams to burst, and major mud/mountain slides. The communities hardest hit are aborigianl communities, which means lots of old people and lots of children. (Because lots of time young people go to the city to work and grandparents take care of the kids).

I got these pictures from this website, a picture documentary. Check them out.
