Probably my worst week so far. Gemma didn’t sleep well on Monday night or Tuesday night, which meant mommy slept with her on the couch most of the night. By Wednesday I was completely exhausted. School has been insanely busy. Last Saturday was track and field day, which was so fun but meant a one day weekend. Thursday afternoon I took a half sick day; I could hardly function and by Friday I was sick with a runny nose, sore throat and cough. Just in time for Friday night which was grade 6 fun night, basically a class party that I’m in charge of. It also was super fun, but completely exhausting. Yesterday (Saturday) was student recitals so another one day weekend, and next Friday is the Secondary Spring Concert. Fortunately no Saturday events next weekend. Next week is not looking much better; report cards are due Tuesday, and I have to start teaching the elementary spring concert because it is only 6 weeks away. Thankfully only two weeks until Easter break.
I am just feeling the results of inconsistent sleep and no planning at school. My classroom is a mess, I haven’t properly lesson planned in weeks which means I’m having not terrific classes, the school is meeting with architects and designers about a complete school redesign and so I am responsible for making sure the music room is done just right…Just lots of stressors and no time for relief. Oh, and did I mention that the sun has only been out twice in the last three weeks? It has been raining the last three weeks.
On the plus side, I managed to get some good sleep this weekend, slept in until 9:30 yesterday and 8:30 today. Fun Night was a huge success, thanks to awesome friends, parents, and the arrival of my cousin Ashton and his buddy. We went to a huge park and played a ‘wide game’ (all the camp people know what wide games are) and we chased those kids till we were all exhausted. Then we went to TGIFridays for dinner. The staff was so great, we had faxed them our order earlier in the week so as soon as we came they started bringing us our food. My cousin Ashton is here, as I mentioned above. It is always special to have family here, the first McKenzie to see Gemma in person. So hopefully I make it through report cards.

sounds like a pretty hectic couple of weeks for you. Just remember back to the crunch days in university...just like those did, this too will pass.
Hang in there Vad...
