Mennonite in a Little Black Dress

If you need a lighthearted yet intelligent, laugh out loud book, this one was awesome. Mennonite connections will only enhance the experience.

Its a memoir style book rather than a story. Its about a woman who grew up in a traditional Mennonite home leaves her Mennonite faith as an adult, but then needs to go back home to live with her parents for a time while she goes through some personal crisis.

Something I thought was really special about this book was that even though the author had chosen not to live as her parents did, there isn't any bashing or ridiculing of the faith. Some gentle teasing, yes, but she speaks with great love and respect for her parents and how they raised her, and as she describes some of the unique cultural aspects of her mennonite community, there isn't any meanness.

Have a dictionary nearby, because the author uses lots of big words I didn't know.
